Sweet Memories

This page is dedicated to those that left our world to soon. The one's who were in pain and went mercifully home. And to those that graced our lives whether it be for a brief moment or for many years. We have loved them all and they will be sadly and fondly missed.

Taking a Piece of Our Hearts 2008

Our one of kind always there for the job Hatchettleft this world on January 19th 2008

Hatchett was the absolute best horse a person could have.  He was relinquished to us in 2003 after being abandonded in a field for 18 months by his former owners Mother and Sister.  Hatchett stayed with us here at Lone Oak because he was so very dependable and anyone under the sun could ride him without fear.  He was a trail horse, pony horse, kids horse, baby sitter and our very best Equine Friend.  Hatchett was placed into retirement in 2007 so he could just hang out and be a babysitter and we only rode him occasionally.  After 34 hours and vet calls and a vet visit our Beloved Hatchett laid down in his stall peacefully and never woke back up.  Not only was he Majestic and carefree in life but he left this world on his own terms after telling us all Goodbye.  There are no words to express the sorrow that is felt at his loss.

Quite a Gentleman

My ole Rusty Man as I fondly called him. I never knew a horse quite like Rusty. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about him. He was the first one to come see you in the pasture and the last one to leave. He allowed any age child to ride him and never fussed a bit about it. He was always a gentleman and never had a cross hair with anyone. Sadly in January 2005 my dear ole Rusty Man had to be put down because of Kidney Failure. You are loved and missed my sweet ole man.

Mitos Lily

What a beautiful baby. We waited for you for so long but it just wasn't meant to be. Sweet dreams Lily.

Sparrow

This sweet little angel lost her life this year in a car accident. OUR LITTLE ANGEL HAS EARNED HER WINGS. Sparrow we miss you and love you so much. See you at the Rainbow Bridge. 2005

Sassy Lady

I had such high hopes for this little mare when I got her but she was plagued with one disaster after another. She suffered the loss of 2 beautiful paint foals (twins/stillborn) a dislocated hock a broken ankle and through it all she held her head high and persevered never missing a beat only to be diagnosed with Cancer. Sassy we loved you and had the utmost respect for your pride and will to live. You will be missed beyond belief. A special thank you to everyone at KTS Lone Cedar Rescues for the love, care and dedication that was given to Sassy all the way to the end. We Love You Sassy-Rest in Peace 2006

And God took a handful of Southerly wind, blew His breath over itand created a horse-Legend

Dolly and Rocket.  Sent home Mothers Day 2006.  You will be missed.

Somewhere....Somewhere in time's own space

There must be some sweet pastured place

Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow

Some paradise where horses go

For by the love that guides my pen

I know great horses live again

-Stanley Harris

Sad Goodbyes

Today we lost two beloved members of our equine family.  Justice-9 years old-(colic)he had a rough life but thankfully was able to spend his remaining days on this earth living like a normal horse.  Houdini-(ascarid)My youngest daughters beloved gift from KTS Lone Cedar.  February 6th 2007.  Good night sweet Princes..........you will be missed.

Bud 35 years old

The sad news has come.........Beloved Bud the 35 year old TB gelding that came to me in January 2007 has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  Although all efforts were made to rehabilitate Bud, the toll of age and the lack of knowledge on how to take care of an elderly horse by Bud's Former owner took it's toll.  Bud began showing progressive symptoms of Liver Failure and it was agreed by all parties involved that the best thing for him was to release him from this earth.  Bud you will be missed and what precious little time we all had with you was enough to fill our memories for a life time.  Here's to you running with the speed of your former youth again across green meadows and drinking out of sweet springs.  Gone but not forgotten.................May 2007

2007 A Heartbreaking Year

2007 was extremely hard for us at Lone Oak .  Many good horses were lost.  Some to the carelessness of outsiders, some never had a chance, some had lived out their time on this earth and moved onto the Rainbow Bridge.  We loved them all and they will all be missed.  Rest in Peace!!!

Hallow the little red dun, arrived at Lone Oak with Strangles in June 2007-lost his battle to Bastard Strangles in July 2007

Pic taken June 14th 2007-Beautiful Pappaw had to be humanely euthanized in November 2007 after the onset of liver and kidney failure.  He had been a victim of neglect and starvation before coming to Lone Oak and even though he fought valiantly to regain his former self.  But, he just was not able to do that despite the best of feed and care and love.  Goodbye sweet Prince!!!

Bitsy-aged Quarter Mare-came to us from Kansas City, Bitsy had COPD and was being treated and had been through numerous vet calls.  Bitsy started having seizures for reasons unknown and she collapsed during one of the seizures and fractured her right hind leg.  Bitsy had to be humanely euthanized.  She was such a sweet and unique ol gal.  September 2007

Bud-his story is listed in this page

Jebadia-after months and months of working on his recovery he contracted the Strangles that was brought to my farm from out of State horses.  He never stood a chance and we lost him almost immediately after he contracted the disease!!!!  He was on the road to recovery and actually had a chance at life but no more.  You will be missed!!!   July 2007

Justus-his story is on this page

Houdini-his story is on this page

Kele-lost to colic after he was adopted
